5 years ago this week, I flew out to ID and set foot for the first time in my new home state. Yep, I was moving somewhere I have never been to before, not even for a layover. But that wasn’t new for me either. I have always trusted in where God is leading me, as I was created to fall in love with cities I’ve never been to and people I’ve never met.

The original goal that week, was to narrow down & hone in on which neighborhood was the best fit for us. On our last day of combing the city, we actually found a house that was THE ONE. Well, as my husband says, we bought half a house, a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, 800 sq ft house for our family of five. But don’t worry, we weren’t crazy. We could our outlook was changing and a plan was taking shape.

We drew up plans to add 700 sqft to the first floor and dig a basement under the new addition. After quick 4 months, we moved into out awesome 4 bedroom including master suite, 3.5 bath, 2 living spaces, roomy kitchen, butler’s pantry, and laundry room. Then this fall, we finally completed a kickass garage/shop complete with lofted storage space!

In the end, our house here in Boise is the perfect size for us. Previously in KY, we had been living in a home that really too big for us and our desired lifestyle. With over 4,000 sq ft, 3 levels, 5 bedrooms, 3 family rooms, offices, music room, mud room, etc… it was just too much. It was exhausting to clean, expensive to furnish, and in all honestly, kind-of isolating. It was all about changing our outlook on the amount of space we really needed to live.

Granted, there are times, like in our current stay-at-home pandemic life, we’d like to have a smidge more elbow room. Yet, we are loving our togetherness in a whole new way. Again, changing our outlook…
